Dear Parents,
I have enjoyed meeting with you to conference about your children during the last couple of weeks. Thank you so much for all of your time, energy and your insightful sharing. I also appreciate all the help and treats that those of you sent or brought in for our "low key" pre-Halloween celebration. I hope all of you had wonderful fall break, despite the snow and frigid temperatures... Many of us will probably be enjoying the weather warm up during the next few days!
Our units of study for the month of November are as follows:
Literacy:
- Reading - Reading and responding to Non-Fiction Texts
- Writing - Writing descriptive paragraphs about research items of their own choice focusing on the use of Non-Fiction Features in text to make their facts stand out. Self-Editing of Benchmark Writing Samples.
- Grammar--2nd Graders are learning about proper nouns and contractions. 3rd Graders are learning about proper nouns, subject and predicate, parts of sentences, and verbs.
- Math:
2nd graders are finishing Unit 3 which includes time, place value, counting coins, and graphing. An assessment on unit 3 will be the first week of November.
3rd graders are also completing Unit 3 and will be assessing the first week of November.
See the monthly calendar folder under the navigator bar on the right for the new November calendar.
Other Important News:
Stephanie Henry, our hard-working, friendly Auction chairperson, would like you to know, we still need a parent volunteer from my class to organize a class art project to be auctioned off. As you know from past years, this could be anything! The cookbooks last year were a great hit, but this could be painted furniture, ceramics, etc. Jana Roush is the person on our committee who is organizing these volunteers so anyone who is interested should contact her at janaroush@msn.com.
Please contact me if you have any questions about any information I have shared above.
Thanks for everything you do!
Ms. Williams
